On the last weekend of August 2009, 45-odd riders from CR headed for Bathurst.
Friday morning saw us all pull up at Bungendore, as Mother nature tried to already blow us off the road. We all made it on time, except Dough – however it was time to head off.
The group made fairly short work of getting from Bungendore, thru Tarago and on to Golburn.
The meet up point at Golburn certainly kept us awake, as one by one we managed to squeeze out cars so we could park more bikes together. The orders were given to everyone that we had an hour to eat and get fuel. A handful off us made a bee-line to the nearest cafe where was chowed down some some dam good bakery goods. A quick whip around the block had us fueled and waiting.
Oh… and Dough showed up.
We all got out of Golburn without much hassle and set course for Oberon. Mother nature had decided to pack up her wind by this stage and we got a stunning, mild sunny day on which to go play on some beautiful country roads.
However we had an unexpect delay at Black Springs (Riicho and Mick Patten will fill us when when the time is right)
With bikes either mended or on the Ute we all regrouped at Oberon.
Leen then set course to Wallerwang (herebay just known as Wang) via Tarana. Unfortunately Leen’s map didnt have the line maked as dotted as it should have been. After 10k’s of struggling thru dirt we found ourselves out on the highway and belting straight for Wang.
Bike were parked, booze was acquired and all were happy with the world.
At the allotted time we made our way down to the local Chinese resturant for dinner.
Umm… next time we go to the pub for dinner. Atleast they were happy to see us.
Following a few dishes of things that all seemed to taste the same, we headed for the oub (Whoo-hoo!)
Once we finished watching the Eels smash the Panthers it was time for some Karaoke! Who needs singstar when you have the real thing! The poor bar staff didnt know what hit them, as their usual Friday night consisted of 10 people tops!
We all headed back to the cabins in dribs and drabs, ready for a day of great riding.
We woke to a day of bucketing down rain and roaring winds.
Fkn great.
The decision was made fairly quickly that those that wanted to would head directly for Bathurst and the motor museum and then meet the rest at Tarana pub for lunch. Sounded good!
We doned our best fashion statements (wet weather gear) and headed up the highway for Mount Panorama.
And didnt it bucket down! For most of the trip you could barely see 20m in front of you!
However we all made it to Mount Panorama in one piece and headed inside the Motor Museum. The Museum now holds about 50/50 bike/car displays. he bikes they had on display had everything from old Vincent side-car racers all the way thru to Wayne Gardeners NSR500 and thru to late model Gixxers and Blades.
Whickle then headed up the Mountain and made his position up on Skyline with a camera as we did laps of the track. The 60k/h limit was certainly annoying on the straights, but it certainly did give people a new appreciation of the track coming down thru the cutting etc.
We found fuel and headed for Tarana.
The roads were wet, slippery and narrow (and a small piece of more dirt) – but we made it there in one piece. The ladies did well to get all the ordered meals out without too much hassle. My steak sandwich was awesome!
Russ and Lauren(?) all caught up with us at this point.
In dribs and drabs people started heading back to Wang.
I walked in the door of the cabin, into our bedroom, removed boots and promptly crashed out.
Thats where people found me about 5 hours later. So I can’t really comment on what went on that afternoon.
However after a shower etc I walked outside to a very windy, but dry evening.
Leen had got some cooks started on getting the BBQ happening and nibblies were served.
The wind started to die off and people slowly started making their way over from their cabins to where Leen had set up for dinner. More bevvies were consumed and dinner was served (Thanks to those who cooked!)
A few speeches were made (and thunder stolen – hehe), cakes were cut and everyone started to fall into a very happy, peaceful night.
A few of us went off hunting for wood as Craig managed to get a damn good fire going! We all gathered around and chatted the night away.
I was certainly great to have time to talk to people I normally dont get to talk to, and was awesome to meet Russ and Lauren(?).
I packed it in relatively early as my flu started to kick in again, but from all reports people were up and merry till very late.
Sunday morning saw us up and cleaning fairly early (some earlier than others – I know…) With the cabins back in one piece, we gather around for some great photo’s of all the bikes and all the people and the left over money was ‘donated’ to help run the forum.
However the wind was HOWLING!
We all then suited up and made our way to Blaney for a Coffee. By the time we got there most people for looking a little worse for wear and were hunting around for extra layers to put on etc.
The group then split into two. One group headed for a detour out via Wyangala dam, while I took a group directly thru Cowra for petrol and then to Boorawa.
Bother groups met up at Boorawa for lunch.
New CR Rule: under no circumstance (with the exception of petrol) shall any organised CR ride plan a stop in the 2-bit shitty hick town of Boorawa
Jess and I sat (sort of) patciently for over an hour in Kel’sGourmet Cafe for our burgers. Only THEN to be told that they had been given to someone else and would we mind waiting another 20mins? How does FUCK and NO grab you?
Anyways….
Shortwork was made of the trip down to Yass and finally home.
A HUUUUUGEEEE thanks to Leen for her organisation.
To Nando, Whickle and Anna for driving – thankyou.
To the cooks on Saturday night – thankyou.
To the cranky little bitch from the Chinese resturant at Wang – go buy an ounce of pot or something because you really need to chill the fuck out!
To ‘Josh’ at the Wang pub – as much as you try, a singer you are not. But good onya for at least giving us a laugh.
Cheers Guys.

Fair Dinkum. These things need to be monthly not yearly. What a blast! Great people, great bikes, great food, great stories – just flaming great all round. Well done to Leen for the organisation and all the others involved
