    Hello Guys & Gals,

The missus and I are new riders (still on the L's), and have been visiting this forum for a little while now and thought we'd introduce ourselves.

We are first time riders and are loving it! Wish we'd done it many moons ago. We ride the ubiquitous Ninja 300 (2014), bought from CMC, both Candy Orange.

We have booked for our P test on Saturday 23rd Jan...so hopefully it'll go well. To be honest, we haven't done much practice of the MOST skills (but have done loads of slow riding though (traffic grrr!!)), and have been to a couple of locations with the markings painted on the ground to practice, but we're hoping that the all day affair at QBN will suffice.

We've done the Cotter Rd run once (great ride), and a few times out to Tidbinbilla for a coffee etc., but other than that, it's general commuting to/from work which has been going well, and touch-wood.

If you have not practiced the MOST test until your sick of it, you leave yourself open to a fail. The emergency stop is nasty as it measures you against a grid and the place you should have stopped v did stop. Each line is worth 2 penalty points.

There is a few weekends between then and now, get out there and practice. Remember once you pass the MOST your only time away from big bikes

Thanks for the advice, CaptCapone. We'd like to practice more than we have to date. The MOST layout in Kambah is somewhat faded as we couldn't work out what-was-what. We went to the layout at the Gordon playground area, and that seemed ok, except for the cars coming/going, I guess we'll have to persist with it and choose our times a little better.

Good to know that penalty applied to the emergency stop lines. Thanks.

EPIC (Except this weekend) has a great layout with the advantage of a nice little warm up ride for you.

Its a long day to fail right at the end

Hi, also check on the posts and Calendar for practices. Some people here run their own practices from time to time and they are great from what I have been to, as there is heaps of advice from the others there and time to practice any problem areas. Good luck, cheers.

I'm down at kambah every couple of days after work and on weekends practicing for my test in mid Feb. Happy to coordinate a session with you?

Agree that constant practice is needed, I am still 'missing' a skill on 1 out of every 4 or 5 goes - especially when getting tired at the end of a session.

    Welcome

The biggest thing with the Most test is keeping a level head & not letting the pressure get to you

Yeah, it's a shame that EPIC is off limits this weekend - would have been perfect for us (Sunday at least)

We wouldn't mind coordinating a practice session, but weekdays are mostly out for us, but we'll see what the future holds as my shifts are changing soon.
I have managed to complete the cone weave + U-Turn and tried it again to see if it was a fluke, and I succeeded, but a 3rd time I wasn't so lucky! I do agree also that constant practice is key - we just wish we had more time. 2015 was a terrible year for us, and so far 2016 has been pretty crap. We have to pass our P test before 6th Feb, otherwise we'll be up for another L's course, just to renew the licences :( We didn't think that we'd be in this situation come Feb 2015, but alas, fate had other plans for us. So fingers crossed for the 23rd Jan!!

I find the break it, break it down approach works

    1. Just get around the uturn, feet down doesn't matter
    2. You will eventually get around it time and time again, i would just have a loop. U Turn ride out come back around. Get a few attempts in within a 10min window
    3. Once your confident start the weave practice it until you have nailed it.
    4. Combine the two
    5. Use this approach for the other sections and get really comfortable emergency breaking, you also have to stop in the ready position. stoppies or skids dont matter just your position relative to their measure and being in the ready position.

I also had a plan on the day that the U turn would be the only area i was mildly happy to drop a point. i put my foot down and although filthy i knew it was in the game plan and moved on. Really helped me not get rattled.

Oh and not giving it away but in the morning they set the course up (slightly modified) to practice it. Its generally regarded as being harder than the actual MOST so if you can get around it you will be fine.

If time during the day is limited get out at night, i have heard from many a rider that they would practice the course at night as it was the only free time they had.

And *Head-Check* (both sides) every time you're moving off. Points off during the test, life-and-death on the roads.

Do you mind if I tag along? I'm confident bikes but still need to do a few practise runs because I have 0 idea of how it works... I'm booked in to do it 12th of Feb too... I'd hate to waste the money on failing on something small.

Hit me up and I'll tag along too... I'm booked in to do it on the 12th of Feb. We should organize a day to do it this week, with someone experienced of course?
