why do Australian photographers plaster their name over the guts of motor racing photos ? The photo is copyrighted regardless . I don't see it happen any where else in the world .

Yes these images are mine. More than happy to take photos of you or a group of riders. No charge for my time just a small fee for supply of images on disc

Would you prefer me to post images on line without my watermark for people to use as screen savers or photos without my knowledge.

Have you seen Shutterstock or any other major stock photo agency? They use very obvious watermarks. Tezza's watermark is relatively discrete.

Stock photo and other media agencies (who buy the rights to images) have the financial wherewithal to issue DCMA takedown notices, or sue for breach of copyright. Tezza probably doesn't have that same level of clout.

If you buy a copy (because it is an awesome shot), I'm sure Tezza will send you a copy without the watermark.

(Friend of a professional photographer and other arty farty folks who are tired of having their stuff ripped off by others)

    Edit:

And because I have my cranky pants on today, and because someone usually says "but what about exposure?", see this guy: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/exposure

(And sorry for the thread hijack Tezza. Mods, feel free to delete etc)

Thank you for the post Ashjay.
A lot of people don't realize what goes into creating good images. A watermark is the same as putting a lock on your tool box, Its just keeping it safe

No free screen savers..... really ? Photographers are that pedantic .

I was thinking of leaving my job and making a living charging an eyeball fee for people to look at my screen savers . I'll be at the Barry drive intersection in the City making my fortune.

V8SC photographers are the same except more stingy. here's my stamp size pic, if you want to see bigger $90 please and I'll show you 1 picture.

No need to get your undies in a twist. It's was just a basic question.

I paint skins for racing simulation games and Australian liveries are the hardest to get sponsor details from because all/most Australian photographers release tiny 640x480 pics . Yet out side Australia 4k pics are no problem to find.

e.g. I painted for free, some can take 20+ hours to paint. I need $3 if you enlarge the image :1.gif:

It's a courtesy thing - want good sponsor decal pics? Just chat to the photog and they'll probably suss something out for you. Source: I know a few professional photographers, including professional motorsport ones.

It's also about credit - people are great at flogging work and it goes around Facebook 9 times before Sunday but no-one knows (or credits) the original photographer, as they should.

Why don't artists write their name right across the middle of their paintings. I thought they just sign them, a bit like this.

Mind you, being a higher res and a lot more usable - this took me less. Seems the 'content aware fill' has gotten better. Think I might drop the res of the photos I upload in future.

Watermarks are common worldwide. Stop making things up.

If you want higher res photos to work from for your graphics, then take the photos yourself. Oh, you don't have the equipment, skills, or media pass to take the photos yourself? Then you better pay someone who can. It's the same reason people pay to have their bikes serviced, their taxes done, their plumbing fixed, houses designed, etc, etc. Do it yourself, or pay someone who does it better.

Doesnt take much for the easily offended to get a lynch mob together over a trivial question.

Go smoke a dick and cool off.
