Some pretty serious effort went into that. When your business and a few million bucks of plant and equipment is on the line, you would try anything to save it!

The repair work will be a pain in the ass tho! Would be interesting to see if insurance would cover it. Given the owner did all they could to limit the size of a claim, you would hope they are looked after!

I often wonder when riding/driving through some of these towns and see the water level markers if they ever get that high. Guess the answer is yes.

I was living in QBN back in 76 when they had the last big flood. Almost exactly the same as this time. Part of the cemetry washed away. The, then new, QBN Leagues Club had high water marks on the river side for years to come. The old Leagues lawn bowls greens, where the shopping centre is now, was awash. The bridge had just been completed but the dip on the (northern?) end was a metre under water. Never knew why it wasn't raised to avoid flooding.

Googong Dam was supposed to stop the flooding again but when its flowing over the spillway the water has to go somewhere.

The old Dairy Flat Rd bridge was either flooded or choked with trees and unusable so to get to Campbell Park (where I worked) you had to go via Kings Ave. The new stretch of Monaro Highway that crosses the river didn't exist back then.
