Hi Guys and Gals, i was having a look a website from dubai, and i clicked on a photo gallery link and my laptop instantly split the screen in half and started flattering and breaking up the image, so i did panic and turned it off holding the on button, after that, i tried to turn it on a few times and black screen on doing nothing, then turn off a few times and then it started loading windows giving me the options of safe mode, so i click on safe mode and start doing the same on the screen that did from the beginning. Please i know some on you are IT people, i would really appreciate some help.

    Thanks in advance.

It sounds like the main board/graphics card is cactus. I would be guessing it was just coincidence that you were looking at that gallery. Might be time for a new machine. There are other things that it could be too, but this would be my best guess without seeing it in the flesh.

Have you tried running a relatively strong magnet up and down the HDD?

run a system restore to an earlier date and see what happens.
black screen, as in not turning on is usually graphics failure.

    try a malware delete program

    or
back up any stuff you want and re instal windows.
If it still does it, it's definitely hardware failure.

Sounds like a possible driver issue, try reinstalling your graphics drivers before a full Windows reinstall because it takes a lot less time.

First uninstall the drivers from the Control Panel in Add or Remove programs. You're looking for either ATI Catalyst Control Centre or NVidia GeForce Experience.

Then head to the website for either ATI or NVidia and download up to date drivers.

Install, reboot and see how it goes.

If you're having trouble getting that far with your screen fucking up and you have an output for an external monitor (and access to one) just hook one up and see if the external monitor works.

Honestly though, it's hard to give you any helpful advice unless you can more accurately describe what's happening. Is it laptop or a desktop computer?

What are "funny things"? You need to be much more specific if we are to help.

It's a laptop, it starts with pixels lines then divides the screen and goes to black, after that if you try to switch on the laptop it turns on but in black screen and does nothing so you have ro wait at least 20 min to be able to switch on again, if you pass me your name on Facebook I'll be able to pass you a video i recorded last night to show you what it does, it doesn't let me post the video on this site

I'm with @timeeh on this one. Sounds exactly like what happens when a graphics card bites the dust.

I don't have Facebook. If an external monitor is showing the same problem, and the problem occurs even before windows is finished booting, then it's probably your graphics card.

Likely time for a new laptop.

Actually, you might want to try cleaning dust out of any vents/fans in the laptop case. Overheating can cause similar issues and it doesn't take much for laptops to over heat. Get a can of compressed air and blow the vents and fans clean.

Pull the drive out and plug it into your new laptop with a USB-SATA cable.
