    Hey guys and gals,

Just got my license and my fist bike (VTR 250) and I'm stoked to be out on the road.

Got in to riding for the social aspect as much as anything, so I'm keen as mustard to meet up with a some of you fine folk to go for a ride, tinker on bikes, shoot the breeze, and learn as much as I can from anyone who's got the time.

    Cheers

Thanks guys, loving all this talk of coffee. Can you recommend some nice shorter rides heading out of town? I'm also brand new to Canberra, keen to get out and ride, but pottering around the city is not what riding a bike is all about...

FOr some shorter trip t get started, ride to Bungendore via Nortons Road or out to Gundaroo or further to Gunning. Good little runs to start stretching you bike legs.

Even do a loop towards Gundaroo then turn right on to Shingle Hill way and head to Bungendore that way. You can also go to the Cotter if doing hot laps is your thing.

    Welcome to CR :)

Hey welcome! Did you happen to buy the VTR250 from MCC 1 or 2 weeks ago? I was gonna have a look at that. I also just bought a VTR250 recently.

Hey Ziggy, I surely did buy it from MCC. Loving it so far, although I have had a few teething problems.... How are you liking yours?

Nothing major, idle set too high and throttle cable was too tight. All sorted now, love the way it sounds too, can't beat a v-twin, even a baby one!

Hey did you do your L's course with a girl on a scooter wearing a pink jacket? She's my partner. I asked if there was a Nick in her course she said yes. Is that you?

Yup, LOL. Tried riding her scooter then decided to buy a bike so we can ride together. I've actually had my license for a while but haven't ridden in the last 6 years.

We should all go for a ride, kind of like a bike school reunion... Good call on getting a bike, so much more fun

I don't mind but not sure about Vicki. She only rides around the suburb and to the shops. The scooter also only does about 80kph and doesn't accelerate well from standstill. I normally only do 1st and 2nd gear when I follow her from behind as she currently only rides to 60kph.

In a few months maybe we can head over to EPIC and prepare for the P's test.

Also thinking of joining this mob for a few rides in the next few weekends: http://canberrariders.org.au/index.php?threads/looking-for-l-riders-in-queanbeyan-area.142326/

Welcome aboard mate. As Nate said, plenty of riding and nearly as much coffee.
I'm a bit of a fan of the little VTR. I reckon theyre a fantastic little beast.

Thanks lurch, seems like a real friendly bunch so far! Loving the VTR so far, though it could do with a few more ponies, or I could do with a bigger set of cojones, maybe both....

    Hey Nick
I too am a newbie. Got my first bike at easter, ninja 250. My partner and I just moved to Canberra. Yet to explore though my partner's bike shat itself and he is yet to get a new one. Pretty funny watching him go from a zx6r to my 250 lol
Canberra riders seem pretty friendly. I was talking to a guy recently on here who helps people practice for their Ps, keep a eye on this forum. Maybe see you there :)
