R1150 GS Adventurer

Bit of a tip.....1150GS's have hydraulic clutches. If the master cylinder gets damaged in a minor fall, and they do, you will be in a world of hurt. Getting one of those suckers moving without a clutch is a real pain....particularly for the person pushing you. Get some sort of guard/protector for the master cylinder on the handlebars. They also retail for about $900 from BMW if you blow one. (Experience on this was a bastard).

A great bike to tour on, very comfy and takes a load of gear.

 

Got a link to something ? Touratech have hand guards but they're plastic just like the BMW's. I leave the levers and mirrors loose enough so they spin/turn in case of drops.

New LED spotties . Much better than the original fog lights that didn't really do anything except form a triangle . 30w each and drowns the light, the bikes headlights can output.

Made some U brakets out of L brackets from Bunnings so I could use the original hanging points .
I just wired them to the old fog light switch ATM . I'm trying to find something like this but not so expensive

Yes that's $60 US No doubt the postage will be $30 as well. The joy of low volume motorcycle parts.

 

What brand the spotties?

 

EBAY! . With 5w Osram bulbs, Spot beam . They used to be expensive, now they are cheap. (there must be new LED bulbs out or coming out soon) Twice as bright as the older CREE led's and actually worth buying now. Heaps of different brands have this style . I'm sure they pop out the same factory just different door.

I found some dimmers that will work and take 6 amps of current , same as the switch above for under $5. They aren't specifically for motorbikes but will do the job.(we will see anyway)

So I can have daytime running lights and spot lights with the one light.
I also found a wiring diagram that allows to have dimmers on and a high beam bypass.
