Yeah SM Pro are generally around excel apparently, although I wouldn't be too fussed about what brand they are if you're not going to be using them too often.

Yeah I priced up a few kits with wheels like warp 9 and by the time I got tyres, sprockets and brake discs they were all more expensive than what I got. My rims had a few small marks on them but definitely nothing to worry about for the price that I got them :)

Check out supermotoaus if you are just keeping an eye out for something to come up. There can be some pretty good deals pop up when people sell stuff and some occasional offers from motard kit suppliers in Aus :)

Yeah, I saw you can get the Warp 9 complete kit with rotors, sprocket + adapters for $1100. Would have to add chain, fender and tyres into it though, but that's not too bad really.

So,

On the weekend, 450 conked out on me in the middle off the bush, it is only by the grace of good friends ( Studbag & Cam) inshallah that it is in my garage and not set on fire in a fit of rage, thanks for the tow boys haha.

Anyway, open to suggestions and ideas on what to check:
Prologue:

A week or two back at Talla, I stalled and dropped the bike pretty hard on a bit of a hill climb. It flat out refused to start. I pushed it back down the hill, tried to roll start, nothing. Got back to the fire trail about to pull the seat off, when I kicked it over and it finally started. Rode it back to the cars with no issue.

During the week I rode it probably 2-3 times, (washed + dropped oil) it kicked over immediately everytime, nil issues riding around.

Situation:

The bike started perfect in the morning, was riding fine with nil issues then, riding up a hill, it stalled (or maybe died), and did not fire again. Tried to roll start, still not firing. When kicking it over it would make the occasional pop from the exhaust, but just wouldnt fire. Occasionally it sounded like it was going to fire.

Since taking it back home, I've got it fire a couple times. One start was next day, it started first press, idled, then died.

What I can/have checked/general ideas:

1. Spark plug. This was changed on the trail, nil result. Both checked while grounding on the bike. Both sparking and working. Old sparkplug was only 10hours old anyway.

2. Shit fuel. I filled the tank with fuel that was probably 2-3 months old I had in a jerry in my garage. I drained the bowl, no difference. The bike ran fine all day previously so am unsure? Ive sinced ditched that fuel completely and have put fresher fuel in, still acting funny.

3. Gummed up carbs. I will take them apart and check the jets. But I'd think if it had gummed up carbs, it wouldnt start and idle perfectly occasionally, then just die. I thought they'd stay gummed up etc

4. Electrical gremlin. Either coil, killswitch or random grounding somewhere.

5. Valves/Timing. I'll double check clearance but I highly doubt its carbs because it starts fine first press. Even the other day when I started it, it fired up immediately, idled perfect for a little, then died. Not really valve symptons but its easy to check. I doubt timing has skipped a tooth because when I've had it started again it was okay. But this is easy to check when I do valves again.

Any suggestions?

Annoying wiring would be my first guess. Would also do clearances - things need them checked more when they are relatively fresh as your motor is. Could have sucked some shit through to the carb I guess. Can be worth giving the charging system a bit of a check, too.

I honestly can't see this being quicker than the gixxer on Mt Mac... I could see it chopping gumbies though.

So bit of an update on bike from Friday night... (to avoid the gossip circle/crash cover up culture lol)

It highsided the shit out of me down Canberra Ave.

Story is pretty simple.

I jumped on the tard to go 2 minutes up the road to get dinner (it had just stopped raining/ was sprinkling). Got a chicken from Manuaka. On the way home I stopped at the main intersection before Kingston pub.

Light went green, I take off like normal, turned right slightly to go around that tiny kink/uphill bit, also changed to 4th gear, it snapped sideways to the right instantly, and gripped and spat me off even quicker.

I pulled the bike off the road, grabbed my shoe, then road home haha.

My assessment of the accident? cold tyres, wet road, but mainly, hamfisted/not careful enough throttle delivery. Where as the GSXR is super progressive/stable with traction loss and very linear power build up, the torque the 450 delivers down low caught me off guard, and caught me out in a big way. So there you go, lesson learned.

Damage to the bike is as follows:
Bent/Tweaked Bars,
Another scratch on the plastics.
(Radiator braces worked a treat and saved my bike yet again lol)

Damage to me (I was wearing slip ons, shorts,a hoody and most important GLOVES Alltorque):
Minor concussion from the head slamming,
Sore neck,
Nice bruising on my left hip and thigh (not as bad as Studbag's though haha)
A small graze on my foot, and a little bit of bark off my elbow.

Guess my theory on gear worked for me this time. I wear what Im comfortable enough taking risks for. To me, ducking down the shop, the biggest risk in an accident is the impact, not the gravel rash, so Im happy to wear shorts/t-shirt if I want. Thats pretty much what happened here, my neck and body are sore as hell from landing with road rash not even worth mentioning.

Keep it rubber side down guys haha

P.S: My chicken was all good still

The gloves save you! I've said it once and Il say it again. If all you wear is gloves youl be fine.

So happy the chicken was still alright.

The night that ensued was way more intense then the crash :lol

Are you sure there wasn't a diesel spill? And you had to put it down?

I would have just powered out, but I already told you that.

Gloves + Hoody = Forcefield haha.

Well the chicken was the entire point of going up the road so I'm glad I didnt crash for nothing.

But seriously though, its still such a shit feeling, especially since I wasn't being a dickhead. If I'd looped a wheelie or slid out fanging it around a corner, I'd atleast know I crashed because I was doing something silly.

When it just happens out of nowhere it's a bit more of a shock.

Watched a mate get t-boned 2 weeks ago, really hits home when your involved or when you see it go down and you realise that there is nothing you would do differently next time, it's just one of those freak things that happens :( EITHER WAY it nots going to stop any of riding in the foreseable future :)
