So, anyone else here play MTG?

Haven't played in a while, but I'm keen to start playing more often. Anyone in?

Likewise, does anyone want to learn how to play? I have spare decks that I can lend to people while they learn.

If we get enough people/interest, maybe we can do an MTG night every couple of weeks? Thoughts?

That'd be pretty cool. Last time I played MTG was around 11 years ago.

Nice! The core mechanics haven't changed at all really, just that there are shitloads more cards nowadays. Older cards are still effective for the most part.

Do you play any MTG games on mobile phones/tablets?

Saw an app on the iPad called Magic 2015. Not compatible with phones because they'd be too small to lay down the cards.

MTG stands for Magic the Gathering. It's a card game that was popular in the 1990's / 2000's that quite a few people (including myself) remember fondly... May need to dust off the cards!

There is an unofficial way to play it online against other people, but I forget the name. Wizards do have their own one, but it's pretty expensive, I think.

The dedicated magic games (eg Duels of the planeswalkers) are super buggy, and very limited. Not worth the time IMO.

I thought it started in the 80's? Regardless, it's a collectable card game, and it's fantastic. It's the forefather of Yu-Gi-Oh, PokeMon, and any other CCG you can think of, really.

I could be interested in learning the game... But time is limited these days. If you get somehing up and running let me know and if I'm available I'll come along :D

The games capital, jolt and 3d6 all run drafts and general magic days if you're just looking to play with randoms. Probably easiest to learn in a casual environment though.

I still have some old Yugioh cards from 3rd grade that I traded for stringy cheese snacks at lunch time. They are of sentimental value, will trade for a full pack of rollups, baby bells or lamingtons (no vegemite sandwiches accepted)

Just started building up my deck again and realized I'm just gonna go with collecting rare/mythical/foil cards.

Although I did start playing Magic:Duels on Steam. You guys should give it a go! No need to spend ludicrous amounts of money to get your desired deck and lots of people to play against.
