I have had my L's for 3 months and was feeling confident to do the test.

went to an open mornings. passed. 100%

booked my test and did open morning practice test lost 1 point. still passed.

did actual test, lost my shit, hit a cone, put a foot down, and then did the same on the u turn. instant fail.

sucks so much because I know I can do it and have passed twice.

(swore into my helmet all the way down sutton rd)

see you at the P's Course!

That's my greatest fear. I loathe the day that I do my test. The only thing I can think of doing is imagining the instructor with no clothes on:nooo2 oh and practice of course...

Guess I need to get long to a Heidi session.

Yikes. What a thought. If I did this I'd have to ride with my eyes closed :)

In some respects failing is not such a bad thing. It does dent your confidence and takes the shine off a little, but as one who failed and did the Provisional day course, I found it to be quite beneficial. It helped to remind me of the things I had forgotten since the L's course and helped to get rid of any bad habits I had developed in the 3 months of riding. During the first session when we got to do the test, I got through clean and I felt I had learn't a few things on that course which put me in the right frame of mind. Confidence restored and it was a real sense of achievement.

I almost screwed up my Ps test. It was in the figure eight section and I had gone diagonally across the rectangle and taken the turn ready to go diagonal again but I forgot to go diagonal and was going straight down the edge of the rectangle. I snapped out of my daze at the last moment and did a sharp right turn then a stupidly tight U turn shape to get back on track. *wipes brow* Passed with no points lost! The instructor afterwards mentioned how impressed he was with the manoeuvre.

Whats crazy about that is I regularly perform in front of a crowd nearly every week! can do a gig to 300people no worries but 1 one instructor! no...

I think I'll enjoy the course tho, not all bad. just sucks a little.

Did P's test today. Hit a cone, put foot down twice, outside the line on the u-turn - instant fail... D'oh  All that during the test after finally getting it right in the practice.

It will just be that much easier next time. Having a good group helps. I had to do the countersteer bit twice because I hit the last cone with my foot which doesn't lose you points and you get another go for free. It is the very last cone in the whole test and it was right in front of the other guys, when I hit it they where all shouting out Choked! Choked! It sounds bad but it really lightened the mood and I turned the bike around for another go, laughing and 100% confident, I knew I would not do it again. I guess the key is not to stress and trust in the fact that you know you can do it.
