    Oh I do that too, easier to hold it straight. Sometimes they're loctited in (hello Kawasaki) which is why heat is a good plan. Depends how deep the axle bit is as to if you need to sacrifice an Allen key. It's how I made an extra reach 8mm to do the Ninjas forks. I should have a pic somewhere for the OP.
