    Hi All,

I've been riding for years but a while ago hit a kangaroo, didn't take me out but shook my confidence up quite a bit, a few weeks later took the misses out for a birthday horse ride and got thrown and broke my wrist. Ended up selling the bike and then bought another one shortly after :)

I'm looking for short rides. Not a speed freak just like the freedom of riding a motorcycle. I bought a BMW F800 GSA. Great bike to ride but still a bit scared of those pesky roos jumping out! So I usually don't venture out until midday.

I'm actually working on an app that can detect heat up ahead and warn you through the bluetooth helmet system. Just might save a few lives, who knows. I'm also wanting to to an Himalayan bike trip but I'm scared of heights so would like to know if anyone knows of some local rides that have a bit of height so I can start to get used to riding in that type of environment. I know we don't have great heights in Oz but every little bit might just help.

Anyway, hello everyone and Happy New Year.

    Spider.

    Hi Spider, welcome.

Your heat app sounds very interesting! Along with your Himalayan adventure in the future, although Australia is flat as a pancake compared to the Himalayas! Best of luck to you in getting your confidence back.

welcome aboard - there are only two types of riders - those who have had and accident and those who will. Sounds like you have a plan so great to see you back on a bike.

Self fulfilling prophecy. Self-fulfilling prophecy are effects in behavioural confirmation effect, in which behaviour, influenced by expectations, causes those expectations to come true.

Brindabella road Canberra -Tumut , The GS ADV is built for it . Canberra's last frontier, it's a good ride.
If you go in the winter that should be close to feeling like the Himalayas . There's cows up there too that could be Yak's if you squint hard enough.

The fact that you have purchased the F800 shows that you are better than your fear.
Well done and get out there and have a play.
    And welcome to CR

Welcome mate, that app would be very useful down the cotter. Some riders don't know how close to the edge they are down there in the morning and evening...

That road from Wombeyan Caves to Mittagong is pretty interesting. As said above Brindabella Road is pretty good also. Not scary enough, just go faster and they soon will be.
