This is cut and pasted from other sources to save me typing!

My profound and heartfelt thanks to all who came to my aid Wednesday night, when my motorbike collided with a taxi in Woden.

I was cut up by a right turning taxi, who claimed not to have seen me, despite my wearing a dayglo jacket and having my lights on.

The large number of people who assisted me, offed to be witnesses, called the ambulance and police, and generally saw to my welfare all have my undying gratitude.

A massive THANK YOU to the young lady who looked after my now wrecked bike, got it transported to a safe place, and has offed to return it to my house, who showed caring and compassion to a total stranger that gives one renewed faith in the human race.

This young lady is a member of Canberra Riders, and is a fine and wonderful representative for your group, she was compassionate and kind above and beyond the call of duty.

Suffice to say after a night in the kind and wonderful care of Canberra hospital I am now home, with broken collarbone and messed up knee and pelvis, typing to you all left-handed on the wife’s I-pad!

Home now, and very grateful to be here. On crutches, in a sling, an on some quite tasty painkillers :)

I'll be off work for a couple of weeks, but may get a new road rocket out of it!

There'll be no "relaxing in a gentleman's way" for a while

Long time lurker, never commenter... I recognise that name from the-riotact.

Small world in Canberra. Hard to be a motorcyclist and not know someone who knows someone from here :).

    No problem man.
Your bike is safely tucked away here and you'll see it again over the weekend.
FYI; at minimum it needs new forks, new front rim and a new set of indicators. Surprisingly the plastics fared pretty well!

Unlucky PB! Good luck healing up and fixing the bike, at least you know it is truly in good hands.

We've never had anything to do with one another but I always read your posts on riot-act so keep at it one handed or not. As for relaxing in a gentleman's manner I presume you mean a quiet chandy while watching the bill and retiring early for the evening...

Again, my thanks. Though honestly, I'm on the verge of deleting my Riotact book mark, as only about 2/3 of my posts go through the filter there, and I'm sick to the back teeth of Jim Jones lying though his teeth on what ever I say, yet any attempt to tear him a new one in debate is not allowed, no matter how politely or on topic I stay.

Welcome to CR mate... and am sorry to hear you and your bike are both in a bad way at present.

This CR community is a great one though - so welcome aboard!
Look forward to meeting you at a Coffee Session sometime soon (cars are allowed too)... and hopefully sometime in the future on a ride

Welcome PB. Lurch called me to pick your bike up, unfortunately I'd ridden to work so was without the ute. Your is not the optimal way to join CR, but you're here!

The assistance doesn't end with scraping you and your bike off the road. You can shout out if you need anything more, or you want opinions on what your insurance or the taxi company is paying. I would be utterly feeding it to them. They constantly prattle on about 'professional drivers' and quite frankly most of them are shithouse.

Hope things go well for the next couple of weeks. Don't forget about coffee.

Welcome to CR PB. As others have said, not the optimal way to come across the site but nonetheless...

As for taxi drivers a mate of mine was in one the other night on his way home from Civic to Belco. He'd had a few (hence the taxi) but luckily was still alert enough to notice that the driver had fallen asleep while driving up Belconnen Way! Professional my arse...
