    Hi all!

Long-time stalker lurker, first-time poster, I thought I should introduce myself, seeing as every time I log in to stalk read, I'm reminded that I've not posted before and I should drop into the New Members Area to post an introduction to myself. So that is what I'll do!

Not too sure what to say about myself! I'm 21, just recently went onto my full licence, onto my 4th bike (5th if you include a farm-bashing dirtbike) and a regular Canberra rider. I ride on the Barton Highway from Murrumbateman to Civic most days of the week.

A little about my past and present bikes:

1st bike was a Cagiva Mito - Euuuuurgh! Bane of my existance; sounded like a lawn-mower, just a little too tall for my short legs (5'1!) and getting it to start was like Russion Roulette - feeling lucky punk?
2nd bike was a 250 Virago. Fun little bike, got me through my L's and nearly onto my P's. It survived 2 drops by me and got hit by a bus too. It now belongs to one of my mates and is getting her through her L's too :D
3rd bike was a Suzuki Marauder 800cc. Admittedly, this bike was probably a bit big for my size/strength, but it was still lots of fun! Sounded great, rode nicely, and really for a bigger bike it wasn't all that hard to handle. Well, at least not to me. Others said it was like steering a tank. But I liked it! It also survived 2 drops by me, but no bus for this one. I sold it late last year to put a bit more cash in my pocket towards buying my first house.
But I didn't like the idea of staying bikeless, so on to bike number 4, my current bike - Kawasaki GPZ500s. It's a bit old and it was dirt cheap but it still has enough grunt to get me from A to B with a bit of fun in the middle so I'm not complaining! I haven't dropped this one yet haha surprising considering my past offences with my other bikes, but I think I've picked up the experience now to keep those two wheels on the ground and not go ass-up.

I'm easy to recognise on my bike - I wear a hot-pink leather jacket and a pink and white open-face helmet (left over from my cruiser days, but I still prefer it more than a full-face helmet - something about feeling the open air in my face :D )

Just finished reading through the waving/nodding to other riders threads... I always nod or if I'm feeling generous I'll give a wave, and I feel a bit rejected when I don't get a nod in return. But when I get a nod in return, or even better a great big wave, it's the best feeling!

Soo I guess in a round-about way I'm saying if you see me on my bike, pleeeeeeeeeease wave to me and give me the gratification I so badly need! :p

Anyways, looking forward to meeting new people on this forum - though I've probably ridden past many of you and never even known it :D

Ike had one of those GPz500's - a good little bike IMHO.

    :welcome:! to CR Sammie.

Two of your bikes are very similar to mine. I started off on a V-Star 250 and have recently upgraded to a Suzuki Boulevard C50. I normally come down the Barton from Dunlop to the Gungahlin roundabout so if I see you I will wave :)

Snab & Madmonk, I'll be keeping an eye out for some waves then :)

Sounds like a great idea RobotJebus, I've actually been meaning to go to a Monday coffee night for some time, so I'd better stop being lazy and finally come along to one!

Damn, I was going to say that. :D

Welcome Sammie. That's a fairly decent list of bikes already. I hope that house has a big garage for when you "forget" to sell before buying more! ;)

Frosty you're right, it wasn't actually TOO bad ... But I only had it for a few weeks and rode it a handful of times before I sold it so didn't really get a chance to give it a good go. The seat height got to me - as an inexperienced rider, stopping on a hill during one ride and finding myself unable to touch the ground was not fun!

Haha andtfoot just a single garage, but the car will be booted outside so the bike can stay nice and cosy. And of course to make sure there's enough space for any new bikes that might happen to find their way to my house ;) haha I wish! I reckon the house purchase might keep my pockets empty for a while. But where there's a will, there's a way...

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! :)

So I've more or less regressed back to forum-stalker since starting this thread, and without being quite sure whether to post another "Hi I'm new!" thread or just say "umm I'm back!", I settled on dragging up this old thread for a hopefully smooth transition into the forum world of Canberra Riders.

Since my last post, I've bought another bike  Wasn't even looking for a new one, just happened to see an ad for a bike that I've ALWAYS liked, and decided it was a deal too good to pass up.

So the bike in question is a green 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250R. I realise when I map out the size of my bikes since getting my licence, I've gradually gone up, then plummeted back to a 250. Only two reasons for it really; one I've always loved the green Ninja's, and two I couldn't turn down the idea of cheaper rego.

So I sold the GPZ, easiest sale of anything I've ever had, and now the resident bike of my garage is this:

I want to do a few little mods to it, keeping in mind there's no point overcapitalizing on a 250. Also, knowing me, in 6 months I'll probably buy a new bike anyway. Plans are for a tinted windscreen, new exhaust, and fender eliminator. That'll do the trick I think.

Anyways, I'm going to endeavour to be a more active member of the forum, rather than sitting in the corner talking to myself, a la Smeagol/Gollum. So hello again everyone, looking forward to meeting you at some point :)
