    Greetings all, my name is Keith and I am new to Canberra and Australia. I bought my first motorcycle yesterday, which is a Suzuki GS500 and cannot get myself to stop riding it. This forum is such a wealth of information and I look forward to actively participating in it. Cheers:cool:

    I am an Indian and I shifted to Australia after a long stint in Kuwait. Worked for a firm that was a prime vendor to the US Army into Iraq and Afghanistan.

    Welcome Keith. My first bike was a 2007 GS500 (actually it was a Honda C70 but we wont go there). They are a great machine and you can't kill em. all they need is oil and petrol and away you go.

    Thank you! You have encouraged me to dig a little deeper into the history of the bike. Please feel free to enlighten me, as I am interested in stuff like this. About my GS500, it's a 2012 model with 4k on it and I absolutely loved it from the moment I saw it. Made up my mind and put a downpayment within minutes and booked for the learners course same day. Now two weeks later, it's all mine. :amen:

    Welcome. The GS500 will commute and tour and has a good range. I could easily go for 400 km without using reserve. Tyres, registration and insurance are cheaper than more powerful bikes with engines greater than 500cc. Maintain it and it will serve you well.

    Hey Peterpan, I have been nodding my head off at every passing biker, but no reciprocation till date. Forgive my ignorance as I am new to Australia and am learning the ropes as I go. I feel this is a really cool thing to do and shall continue doing so.
