Howdy. What sort of riding dirt or tar although you can get a bit of both that is pretty good. You can head south from Tharwa on Bobeyan Road to Adaminaby, you can go up through Picadilly Circus on Brindabella Road to Tumut (pretty easy rides), then you can go on from there where you will find plenty of good riding. Just be careful where you ride on the dirt around here, apparently you need to stay out of the Cotter Dam catchment area, there is a map on here somewhere that shows where you can't ride.

Oh well, give them a go they are good enough for a road bike usually. There are also a lot of roads/trails coming off those roads also. For example, there are a number of ways to get back to Canberra from Tumut i.e. go through Wee Jasper, Sawyers Gully Road (I think that is the one) makes it interesting. A map might help, just depends on how much 'adventuring' you are into.

Mate, Canberra is a mecca of dirt trails... everything from easy gravel roads through to the maniacs on their little dirt bikes in the Brindies.

Head south. As above... you can go through Namadgi, nice riding from Tharwa and beyond.. beautiful country.... or yeah the route through the Piccadilly Circus is cool.

My feeling is that there are more "dirt bike" types on this forum than on another.... there's an ACT subforum on advriders of blokes on bikes like yours that often go on rides around the place..... good local knowledge that you won't pick up on the internetz so much.

But... my first ride... go through Tharwa down Bobeyan Rd, through Shannon's Flat to Adaminaby.... you can either road it back via Cooma, turn around back through the dirt road, or there are other options....

Hopefully you have had a chance to do a bit of exploring since your first post. There are heaps of trails for you around Canb - so fun times ahead!
Definitely look up the Lower Cotter Catchment map on this forum, I went out there last week and there are trails everywhere. They range from billy goat track to dirt highway and all within 30mins of civic.

Yeah I did, pretty decent rides too - I'd say I was on the dirt for about 4hrs over Fri and Sat. .Pete was kind enough to give me a tour of the Fire trails on Friday and I went back out on Sat.

Have you had a chance to get out there yet? I'm busy for the next couple of weekends, but I might try go out again on the 3rd of April?
