Thats a bargain at the moment...

 

But where is the reserve sitting?
That is the first time I have seen a police auction with a reserve.

 

Must admit I havent seen one with a reserve either, guessing its allbids imposing themselves. I have twice bid on something from them and been the highest bidder (no reserve), only to have them yank it to stop a cheap sale.... :banghead!:

 

OK, went back in and placed a bid on this, now the highest bidder

Was amazed to see someone called "blaringmike" was in the l&s listing this morning bidding on other stuff... What happen Micheal, to many bikes already mate?

The ministry of finance allowed me a small allowance, its back as mine. Now you lot bugger off.... :whistle

Only bad part, still hasnt met reserve. After checking redbook and factoring in the auction fee, i think they may have set the reserve too high. Oh well have to see how it goes

 

Yeah, I think the reserve will be around the 7k mark. My plan was just to ride it around for summer, take it to a few track days then sell it after Christmas and make a few $$$ on it. :whistle

 

I'll go over and ask them why they think it is worth so much.
The red book reckons they trade in for $5,900-$7,000.
But that assumes it isn't stolen (with the attendant "having been ridden like it is stolen"), have rego, and don't have a mirror missing.
Private sale from $8,100-$9,600... and that usually comes with "I know it has been used for X" as well as rego and other stuff.

EDIT:
Ok, Found out that the Vendor sets the reserve, which is the AFP in this case. The guys have no idea what it was set at.

The mirror broke off cos it fell over in their truck when they were delivering it. The mirror is there, but the metal stem is busted clean through.
There are inch wide chicken strips front and back, but the tread is barely worn. Couple of paint chips on the tank that have been touched up to prevent rust.
The bike sounds nice (not race nice, quiet/healthy nice), the Yoshi can doesn't make much noise, but it seems to run well, doesn't burble, blew a teensy little black when the guy tweaked the throttle, but that went away once it warmed up. Not a lot of scratches on it at all.
All fluid reservoirs had clean/clear fluid in them, no buildup or gunge in them.

And then the bad news... There is absolutely NO paperwork on this bike. No history, nothing. It was either recovered stolen property or lost/found or unknown. The AFP tell them nothing.

Edit 2:
This thread has the goods on chocolate tyres! Something to consider if you can't get history on the bike... (there is a little bluish/harder rubber on the chicken strips, dunno if that helps people much...)

If anyone is really interested, I can take a camera tomorrow and get specific pics for people.

 

Yes, my maximum bid is based on the lower end of the trade redbook figure, this was based on the problems I foresaw getting the bloody thing registered (doubted there would be any paperwork).

If the AFP set the limit for reserve then there dreaming, I'm not paying market (or above) for a bike that may be taken off me if I register it, then again could make a lovely tracky at $5.5k, wouldnt need to fix the mirror... :yahoo:

 

OK, the police can be so friendly sometimes. The bike is a proceeds of crime seizure, the reciept issued will have vin/eng numbers and just take that into rego and off the successful bidder goes...

Now if the just lower the reserve to meet my maximum bid...
