Any one know where I can get a stater for a dr 250? We think it's the problem with the bike. It will start and run but only for a short time. Then it just stops. Not to be started again until it cools down. All advise points to stater.

It sounds like it could be the stator assuming there are no fuel problems. The problem is you don't see many second hand for the 250. Not being an expert on the Suzuki motors I can't tell you if the 400 stator will fit but they are available second hand on ebay. Otherwise try ordering one new, they will be around 4-5 hundred bucks I reckon. I don't know about Aussie sites but this is good for getting part numbers at least: http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.com/Xtremepowersports/Suzuki_OEM/SuzukiDB.asp?Type=12&A=341

    Stator or stater?

Stator maybe, but you'd think it wouldn't start again till the battery was charged externally.

Starter it could be the starter relay or the starter clutch getting unhappy, or the starter itself.

Maybe. They could be wired to run without a battery but it probably wouldn't start at all with a buggered stator.
