sand the fairing back . go to Fyshwick paints for good quality paint in a spray can. Get then to colour match the blue paint $35 a can also get some undercoat and some prepsol and clear coat. Spray the fairings in the Garage (move your parents car out first) put heater in the garage to warm up.
or sand them back and take to Red Back paint Fyshwick.

cheapy fix spray the fairings in satin black and stick them back on with indicators. You want the bike to clean for rego. After that you can pull it all back off buy a round headlight, brackets and new dials to make it naked. That headlight fairing also hides a stack of wiring and other ugly stuff. Plus it will look like shit if you take it off and fail rego due to sharp edges and protrusions.

don't drill the fairing it will vibrate fatigue and crack the fairing. (BODGIE BROTHERS)

blinker attach without fairings. I've done this before on this model and passed rego
bolt a Z bracket to the hole I have circled. Straight bar with holes and bend into a Z .Enough to go up,over and out of the fairing. Get some after market blinkers from Joes or CMC and attach to the Z bracket. Make sure the the lens or light are not too yellow (usually LED type) you need orange.

bracket like this type from supercheap or something

If you want I will give you hand to make sure it passes rego. It looks to have all the bits . see if they have bolts and clips for the fairings.

mate its called having a go yourself and finding out. There are no *instructions* for customising anything, you work out where you want the indicators, make some brackets, bolt them up, wire them up and away you go.

You learn how to do it properly, from the mistakes you make the first or second or third time around. Nobody gets anything perfect the first time.

Thanks Gazman, the owner is going to put it all back together and take it down for a RWC early this week so I can buy it with RWC. Covering the coast for him of course so I can flip it to my name once bought. If I do buy it (Which is most likely) Would you be able to give me a hand sorting out the Z bracket and all that? That would be awesome!

for a bike of this price that's pretty good of the owner to do that for you. The bike seems to be alright from whats written in the add and has a service history which is good. I'll fit that for you if that's what you want, get some indicators , just get normal if you can as LED will also need a new flasher unit.

My advice would be if you want a naked bike buy a naked bike. 90% of fairing bikes turned to naked looked like they been in an accident unless you have good knowledge in customising knowing what works and what bits to buy .

Concentrate on learning to ride safe and getting your P's.

Just my 2 cents as everyone else has had theres. Make sure you get the right bike for you. There is nothing worse then learning on something that doesnt suit you or feel comfortable. I had a suzuki across and learnt very quickly I didnt sit to well on it and upgraded to a hyosung gt650s which I have now derestricted. Make sure your confortable on it. Good luck with the hunting mate

$1300 or not, I'd be a tad bit sceptical. Fairings are off for a reason. If he/she had an off, that could cost you more in a long run.
Check a few bikes out, don't settle for the low price just because it's low. Don't rush, you don't want to ruin your learner/p plater experience :)
You even have Gazman offering you to take you somewhere, can't get a better deal!

its $1300 for his first bike - a total bargain and exactly what a learner wants, to learn on. If he falls off a couple of times - big deal. Its not like the bike will need a lot of money thrown at it to make it rideable again.

A cheap reliable bike - regardless of the fact that it might have been down the road already and that is why the fairings are missing - is a cheap reliable bike to learn on.

Its all about context. Worrying that the bike might need money spent on it etc etc .......its a first bike, it will go down the road again at some point so less worry about what could or should be done - just do it.

I've got the perfect bike for him.

But I don't think I could part with it.

Nor could he live up to the litre killers esteemed history

it's all good. A couple of months ago he couldn't afford one. Now he can kinda afford one...without the fairings... In a couple of months he will get himself a brand spanking new 300 with 2 year warranty.
    Sorted \o/
    Keep saving J!

if it passes RWC just get it. A road worthy lams bikes under $2K is hard to find. It doesn't have to be the perfect fit or be pretty, or look awesome. You have it for a few months to learn to ride on, there will be many more bikes after this one.
