    Hi all!

I thought I should check in on my electric motorbike build. It's running again, after replacing the motor with one with water cooling and stronger magnets. I rode it to work today:

I'm still testing the range on it, but it's done fifteen kilometre round trips with no hassles so far - I'm hoping for 60-100km per charge.

Top speed is over 100km/hr - easily able to hold 90km/hr along William Hovell Drive.

Take-off at the lights is... modest. :( I'm experimenting with the settings on the controller, but it's a heavy bike and the motor is only capable of 30kw peak. It should be good for cruising around town but it's not a tyre shredder.

With the cooling, the motor is now cool to the touch - after going out to the end of William Hovell from Cook and back, it was only 30 degrees. That's a big improvement from the previous motor, which got very hot to touch on a similar ride.

I'm hoping to take it down to Coffee if that's still happening these days :D

    Have fun,

    Paul

    Thanks Gos, Tobin, Tim!

I'll try to get a Wednesday off to bring it along to coffee, and give you advance notice of when that is.

Rode it to Queanbeyan and back (charging it up at Damian's shed while there). The battery management system reckoned the 22.5km journey was about 29% of the battery capacity, so theoretically we're still on track to do 70km or more on a charge. But I'm not going to try that in one go just yet :).

    Have fun,

    Paul
