Took it out for its first proper run today.

It's notable smoother then it was. Throttle is very touchy, due to it being pulled apart and re-lubed. And I'll need to re-adjust the clutch bite point back to my preference as it was also taken apart and serviced. It's almost boring to ride. Before with a snatchy throttle and rough engine it really liked to bog down low, then hit around 6000rpm and go mental. Now it seems to pull a lot smoother from down lower, still with the big power kick, but not as exciting as before. :haha Maybe this is what it's like to ride a Honda? It's nice but I do miss the distinct double faced characteristic it had.

Also, the brakes feel fantastic, I still don't have 100% confidence in them. Just a mental block I have to get over as I rode around since March with them randomly not working so I conditioned myself to allow enough room to stop with engine braking :lol

Really need to do something with my suspension. It's WAY to hard for shitty public roads. The rear jumps around like crazy over bumps. Pretty sure that has a lot to do with it being set up as a wheelie machine. Too much pre-load on the shock. I'd also forgotten how light and flickable the bike feels when moving. Although it seems to want to always push wide mid corner, not sure if this is a suspension problem or rider error. Will put it down to rider error until I can get the bike setup properly.

Geez I missed riding, so glad to be back in the saddle :cool

well, you know where to take it for that ......Laurie can weave his magic and not only will your bike stop and go really well......it will also be comfortable while doing it !! :haha

I am sure that even though your bike looks like a Geelong player's bedroom wallpaper, Laurie will still allow it in his workshop.... :whistle

I'll need to do something. I'm still pulling my balls back down from my kidneys after the pounding they took on the road out to Tharwa.

After riding Micks 10 with the Arckosick pipe I decided I needed to put mine back on.

The Omrae pipe is sex for the ears. Backing off throttle and listening to the backfire and splutter is awesome. Had to ride to tuggers today so I went through Northbourne just so I could slow down for traffic lights and listen to it :haha

I suppose PC will just have to let me test ride the Z so I can do a fair and un-baised comparison :up

WP shock ordered and on the way :up

Will get the Suspension Smith to renew the front and and fit new shock. Then it will be steering damper time. :up

You'll probably be needing some stiffer fork springs to match the WP rear shock......

Found out today Omrae went bankrupt and the pipe was bought from the liquidators sale. They make a really nice pipe, beautiful finish and very light, shame they went under. Also found out their specialty was 'Loud' :haha

I'll have a chat with him when I take the shock in. After talking with him today he recommended not lifting the rear up without a steering damper, so I'm gonna go with standard height until I can afford a damper. Then we can play around with ride height.

Yup - I would totally concur. Dont muck around with the Hyperpro's.. just get a Top-Yoke Mounted Ohlins.
And just do the dogbone change on the rear - dont feck around with anything else.

To be honest.. the best way to get the most out of your model: Stick it head on into a wall and knock about 0.5 degrees off of the rake.. seriously... a few FX guys learnt that by accident (boom-tish) back in '00 :)

iight. I've gone without dinner for the last fortnight (literally) so I could afford the WP shock. It arrived in the mail a short while ago. Got it for an excellent price seeing they supposedly retail for $1600. Brand new in box and everything...

I'll go see the Suspension Smith either late this week or next week and book the bike in. Will probably just get the front done with standard bits as I'm not sure how long I can keep skipping meals to pay for my bikes... on the plus it's making losing weight a lot easier.

Sell some bodyparts. That will pay for some cool go-fast bits and further aid your weight loss quest.

I'm pretty sure I could do without one kidney. Also my right ankle is a bit dicky so I could probably survive without it at all..

Also willing to take experimental drugs for pharmaceutical testing purposes.

Basically there is almost nothing I wont do for a few $$ to spend on the bikes.
