    Hi everyone

New to this whole bike thing :) heard of this site through I friend that heard of a random lol so I don't have my licence or anything yet but hopefully will be booking in the next few weeks :) pretty excited to get into it

I am I huge car guy and thought I'd see what bikes are all about I'm trying to find a 250 bike (cheap rego) between $1500-2000 I know it's a push but because I love my car budget isn't huge I'm also 6ft 2 and any advice on bikes that would be comfortable would be great.

    Thanks for reading :)

Welcome aboard & good luck with the L's :)

Being tall and wanting a 250 will make it hard not to look like a grasshopper rooting a caterpillar, particularly if you're looking for a sporty type bike. A 250cc dirt bike with a 'tard kit might suit though.

    Haha thanks mate

That's a good point besides the bad images in my head now :10.gif: Wouldn't be a good look I would rather a more sportier bike then a dirt bike so hard to pick what will be right can't stop looking haha

I reckon you should see what you can get thats abit bigger, the GS500 or GS500 f is very popular and has a lot more grunt then a 250cc. But good luck!! if you have a search around theres heaps of great advice on what bike to start off on.
Now go book your L's course!!

Yeah I wouldn't mind a gs500 if I can find one for the right price is an extra $400 year in regoo_O might go around to some bike shops on the weekend and sit on some to see how they feel

I'm gonna book the Ls course ASAP but waiting on a mate to come aswell I'm trying to get a bike before too so I don't have to wait after I get my licence so much to do lol;)

    Welcome :103.gif:

I'm 6ft 6 and managed to squeeze onto a 250 Suzuki across for about 2 years. I acted as a bit of a parachute when I sat upright but it was actually surprisingly comfortable for such a small bike. Best bet would to be to go around to CMC and have a seat on a couple of bikes to see what you prefer the most.

The dirt bike option with a motard kit is good for a tall person but they aren't very comfortable bikes to be ridden for a long time.

    Hey mate,

As @snipercision said, i'm a big bloke (6ft, 100kgs) and have been on the Yamaha XVS250 for the past year whilst I was on my L's.

Can't say enough good things about the bike; power was good, handling is fantastic, smooth easy ride... you get the picture!

It's for sale (see the 'For Sale' forums here), but out of the price range you listed.

However, if you change your mind about your budget, hit me up.
