Today, CR, Ducati and Canberra is one less. Overnight we lost a man/rider/friend and counsel who has been a major part of CR for the last 5 years. He has been instrumental in developing new riders through his L and P plater training as well as pioneering the Fat Boy Brekkie and a lifestyle that most of us only dreamed of. His focus on CR as the social side of riding was beyond compare.

Yesterday, he rode his bike to Taralga, had a great lunch and told us all about it on Facebook.

Dave’s passing was not bike related.

Today, I will order an extra latte and Egg and Bacon Roll and acknowledge an empty Bar Stool at ONA.

Ride safe Dave, you will be missed

Not at all as many people throw themselves into riding as much as DJY did. From buying his W800 and touring Tassie on it, to the sheer quantity of Diavel tyres he bought, to the riding he did on the Multistrada, he threw himself into riding and having fun. Once he started, he rode and rode and rode, and now he has ridden on from this world.

A lot of people owe their time here on CR or elsewhere in the broader motorcycling community to him, and the world is a poorer place for his passing.

I first met David at an L plater session at Dickon College. It was clear then that he was someone who cared for others and was going to become an important part of the CR community. I am saddened by today's news, as I am sure that everyone else that knew him is too.

Today I ride in his memory.

That is very sad news. He was always so easy to talk to and cared about people around him. I had to go pick my bike up from the mechanic once and Dave came over to pick me up so I could get the bike on time and didn't have to waste my money on a taxi. He did this without being asked to. He was a true gentleman and will be missed.

DJY and I didn't always see eye to eye on forum stuff, but he was always up for a chat and was very passionate about bikes, riding, the CR community and his friends. He will be sorely missed by many and left far too soon, rest in peace Dave.

Between the L/P sessions way back and the various rides along the way DJY always seemed to be a large part of what made CR CR. RIP Dave.

Really terrible news. DJY was a genuinely nice guy.

Im glad that he lived his life to the fullest over the last couple of years, and especially in his break. The multiple bikes, the big trips, the enormous amount of rides. RIP.

    Such a terrible loss.
David was always the person at all CR meets/coffees that would welcome the new shy members. He would come, greet, welcome and steer the newbies to join the rest of the group. Make them feel very welcome.
He will always be remembered by all who knew him as a very cheery positive person, happy to offer advice and a hand in relation to anything and everything. He will always be a huge part of this forum, well respected and will never be forgotten.
    Rest in peace brother.
