Vehicle Permit for Java-Nusa Tenggara-Australia Tour

Two friends from Jakarta plan to ride down to Australia through Nusa Tenggara islands.
Do you know what kind of permit that the vehicles should have and how to obtain those?
Appreciate any hints/info. many thanks.

 

If they're taking their vehicles back home with them, then probably a carnet would suffice.

 

The carnet and a lot bloody lot of cleaning to get through quarantine

Yeah, AQIS go over vehicles very very closely, a lot of bio risk coming in from SE Asia! A bike is much easier than a car though!
