Here is a pic I have taken here in Kabul that I quite like. Chances to take any good photos have been slim while I have been here and there is so much dust in the air that you can't get any good distance shots after about 6am.

There is still snow on the mountains here and the views are astonishing at times but I just don't seem to be able to capture it at the moment. Hopefully by the end of my time here I will get one decent shot.

There rest of my shots from here are in those albums but they are mainly random shots to show friends.

Let me know what you think.

Thought it was an interesting shot, this country is very beautiful and this contrast seems to be everywhere. So many decades of war have really deprived the people of any sort of normality but the natural beauty of the place continues to shine through.

Wish I could capture some of the long distance shots properly but alas I am not a good enough photographer, they would give an even better contrast.

I have a feeling that the photo has more significance to you than it might do to anyone who sees it from an outside perspective... All we are seeing is the fenceline with a few trees in the mix... I tried scrolling down to see if there was more to it... Not saying it's a bad photo, but just that it needs more to put it into the perspective you are eluding to... ;-)

What's the contrast? What's the feeling you're trying to capture? The trees and fence themselves don't say much - they could just be the prison on monaro hwy... It might help to pretend that you're describing the scene on the phone... what adjectives would you use? what elements would you talk most about? Then think about what you'd have to place in the photo, where, and in what light...

Don't worry about the dust too much... it might add to the feel of the photo and tell a story all by itself...

Perhaps it's more about the context.

Exactly! You either need a caption that provides a lot of it, or you need to communicate it through the image itself though... This is exactly why so many people's personal and important photos mean a lot to them and others don't really know why, kind of like an inside joke.
