Looks great and well done.
Honda EBay550F, nice.
I wanted to make a genuine correct parts for the year bike, but that turned out to be just too challenging when I had a very low budget and some of the rarer parts only come up for sale on ebay only once every year or so- seemed to be always when I was broke!
So the wiring loom, switchblocks, four into one, front wheel and the cb750 brake caliper+disc I already had; the engine, rear mudguard, muffler and back wheel came from Joes.
Every thing else including the frame came from ebay but sadly the seat and tank are from an older 4 into 4 model and the speedo, master cylinder and tail light lense are aftermarket items.
looks good mate
thanks! It took a loong time and loads of money(I'm too scared to calculate just how much!) but I think well worth it now that I finally got hold of the correct oil pump cap o ring to fix the oil leak that has been a thorn in my side.
Quality is remembered long after the price is gone from your paypal account.
Thats fkn sweet!
edit - I just remembered that I already had the front mudguard and that the forks and shocks I also managed to get from Joes - the shocks had been painted with black paint but while it was really hard to remove, it prolly helped to preserve the chrome underneath!
That looks great - I love the classic look and styling. Well Done
@Jonda500 - there is a CanberraCLASSICS page on the forum here - its where a lot of info about old Jap classics can be found.....
There is also a local branch of the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club here in Canberra - the national website can be found here - the national site has all the club membership forms etc - and lots of links to parts and bikes for sale as well .
I run the local facebook page for the VJMC - you can find it here.
There is an event running this weekend out at the big carpark at Geoscience Australia - your 550 would be right at home as a display bike, either with the VJMC bikes or the CR bikes - the event thread can be found in CanberraRIDERS here
thanks gosling - I will try and be there Saturday sounds awesomw!
I'd like to see a CanberraMotorBicycle page!
that looks cool - will be the next big thing probably
Saturday is looking good, we should have at least 15 VJMC bikes on display as well as a few from here.......
Scored a '77/'78CB550K tank for $70+$90shipping It looks identical to a '75 CB550F tank -just has a different fuel cap under the flap and takes a much more common fuel tap, so I am pretty happy with it! I am hoping to have enough cash to take it to redline race paints for a full bare metal respray by december.
Great looking bike well done!!
Looking good man
Update: here is where it's at currently! I have replaced the following with model correct oem items:
speedo & tacho; fork ears; fork boots; headlight; taillight lens; front mudguard; handlebar grips; lockset (matching original keys!); brake disc; brake calliper; master cylinder - and I put new brake hoses and rebuilt the master & calliper before installing them.
Great looking classic bike congratulations
Thanks james! I am impatiently waiting for my flake sunrise orange paintjob to be finished after my painter accidentally stuck one of the side cover decals along the side rather than the top this means sourcing new decals and starting all over again with both covers, doh!
Meanwhile I have to finish recovering my supersport seat too...
Great colour, that will stand out nicely.
