Hi All - Posted here in the Learner League - see the Event i have created if interested. Saturday 21 July 2018 from 7am. Anyone interested in a day of sedate and scenic dirt roads come and join me for a jaunt out to Koorawatha Falls (just south of Cowra). Predominantly dirt roads, with a few short sections of tarmac. The last few hundred metres into the Falls are a bit tricky - but optional for those who don't feel up to it. Knobby tyres preferred but not essential. Roads are all fairly smooth and easy riding. Good opportunity for anyone new to dirt wanting to brush up on their skills. Happy to give a few pointers at the start and along the way for those wanting it. Rough order of events: 0700 meet at Nicholls Caltex (O'Hanlon Place, Nicholls - next to Gold Creek McDonalds). Please be ready with full tank of juice for an 0715 brief then 0730 SHARP departure. Route will be roughly: Wallaroo, Cavan, Dog Trap Rd, Yass, Boorowa (maybe stop for coffee and pie at the Superb Bakery), Murringo, Koorawatha. Lunch at Koorawatha Hotel, or BYO lunch (there is a park with water and reasonable toilets right over the road from the pub). Discussion/decisions about those who want to tackle the track into the falls. Those who choose not to can either head home on their own or wait about 1 hour for us to return. Return home on the same route - for those wanting to gain confidence on dirt, it is really beneficial to ride the same road again with a bit more confidence. I am open to suggestions/discussion if any are interested in staying overnight in Cowra and maybe coming back another way via Wyangla Dam on Sunday. Depending on numbers, if 5 or more we will run with a team staggered intersection indicating method and one permanent Tail End Charlie. For those not familiar with this it will be explained to you in the morning before we set off. If showing interest, please also advise if you are prepared to volunteer for Tail End Charlie (preferably a fairly experienced rider). This trip is definitely not a race, so if you are after some adrenalin pumping action then this is probably not the ride for you. Fog can be an issue this time of year especially the sections around the Murrumbidgee River so be prepared with warm clothing and especially gloves. If the weather forecast looks particularly wet I will cancel and advise any nominated participants on the Thursday prior to the ride. Should be a fun day and would encourage anyone seeking a bit of experience on easy dirt to join us. Anyone wanting a map of the proposed route - let me know and I will share you a link via email.
