I have been lurking about the forum for a little while now but did not post as I wasn't quite in Canberra and neither was I a rider, well I am almost in Canberra and having done the pre learners, got my L licence and my first bike I am nervously stepping through the door. Please be gentle, I'm only 57.

Bikes are safer over this side of town, though :). Even the AFP agree.

Well you beat me! I was 54 when I started to ride many years ago now. :) Enjoy but remember practise practise practise and learn something from every ride. I am still practising and learning after 16 years.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. In response to supamodel's question: I chose the Suzuki tu250x so I won't be joining in any races but my aim is sightseeing and exploration so I don't that as a problem and, from what I have read elsewhere, once I have mastered the basics I can customise it a little if I still feel so inclined. For now, yes I have the ear to ear grin, it goes well with the white knuckles.

I have a question about the blanket run. Having met up at the Boathouse and moved on to Old Parliament House, what happens next? Is it coffee and go home, a run around the city or something bigger? I don't feel ready for The Bay just yet.

Practice time, have a good one.

Nothing wrong with a TU250x. No, not speedy but it's a bike and a cool one at that.

Plus it is a Suzuki. This makes me happy.

We need at the Boathouse so we can arrive at OPH as one formed group. There people can grab a coffee or egg & bacon roll before heading off on a small ride. The route heads out to the Woden roundabout and comes back and we all end up at OPH, deposit our donations on the steps, collect cash donations, and also some more speeches. They hand out some awards (e.g. largest social group, largest corporate group) as well so hopefully everyone from CR hangs around for abit for the big count! Here is hoping

    Hope to see you!

Hopefully once everyone gets back to OPH and CR wins the Biggest Group award ....... you will all head out to Geoscience for the All-Jap Car & Bike Show. Free entry for spectators, we have a dedicated area for bike displays and parking - there will also be coffee and food on-site.
