Because, you know... what this bike needs is more torque :p

That said, don't focus on what other people say they get on dynos, either. Other people get supposedly bigger figures than my Monster, but a) it's so fkn awesomely rideable after tuning and b) it all depends on what they got stock, how the readings were done, etc. Focus on the improvements to smoothness and awesomeness first and power figure second :).

Well, it'll come in handy when you put a boat and/or caravan on the back of it.

    Oh for sure...
Just had a read back thru their first Dyno Day. With the Cobra's on I only pulled a 92hp!
Complete with flames! (at 1min 31sec) And the loudest bike there... fkn Cobra's.

More was the point of if you only pull 120 with your mods, don't be upset :).

(I suspect Brett's dyno is a bit more conservative than most. MIZ's Ninja pulled less power stock than an example of a stock bike on LeoVince's site, indicating his dyno might be conservative. More entertainingly, after Brett tuned it with the full system, it pulled more power than they received with race fuel + extra ignition playing with + tuning + same exhaust. Impressive effort of tuning on his part).

    I'd be happy with 120hp

Do you have a TRE(sp?) installed. At the Dyno Day I went to a guy with a 109 had horrible dyno results because the TRE was screwing it over. I'm sure you could ask Brett for more details if you're interested.

That guy was Riicho and it depends on the type of TRE etc installed.

A custom map on the PCIV Lurch has would just be the ticket.

TBH, the biggest and bestest gain I got out of the Monster was the tuning. I could happily live with it with stock pipes, the added smoothness is better than the power. Ok, the fact it's making a buttload more power everywhere is nice, too...

I have a TRE to go back on, yeah.

Umm, why? If you're using a Power Commander, the TRE is completely redundant is it not?

not at all mate - I have a PCIII on the MFP12, and a TRE as well. The TRE only comes into play in the lower gears so that the ignition timing is not retarded (basically so you can do mad wheelies) and top gear, so that you don't have a top-speed limiter.

The PCII is all about the fueling maps and fiddling with these, not the ignition timing or top-speed limiters....

    Ah, ok :up

My understanding was that the PC could cover the lot provided it was capable of carrying more than one map (as in a separate map for each gear), thus eliminating the need for the TRE. Live, learn :D

they carry heaps of maps - not just one for each gear. I think - but am not sure - that your standard PCIII is actually mapped at every 50rpm or something like that ? That is how they can be *tuned* so well, you have one basic overall *map* for fuelling, which is made of of hundreds of smaller *snapshots* taken at the various points of the rpm range of whatever bike the PC is fitted to . When your bike is *mapped* - well it ends up with 1 single power curve, but at each point of that curve which can be adjusted by the PC, it will be adjusted for that individual point....

that is what I understand from the KSRC threads about PC3's - Brett could do a better explanation I am sure of that

Yes, my point being that there be one as you put it 'overall map' for each gear, which then effectively over-rules the need for a TRE... But that's just my understanding, and I'm sure I don't know as much as I'd like to about a great many things :p :up

Ignoring everything else, a TRE re-advances the timing. Unless the PC is fitted with an ignition module, I believe it does not control anything to do with the ignition, simply the fuelling. I'm happy to be corrected by someone who knows more.

The only downside to me going down a powercommander route was the alternative, a replacement ECU, would have let Brett fettle with the ignition timing as well.

    I've emailed Brett re: TRE.
And also asked if I can get the advanced cyl mapping done :)
