Hey everyone, ended up getting my postie bike and now I need to start the maintance on it. It hadn't been run in 12 months when I got it, nothing had been drained but the fuel was almost empty anyway. I filled the rest with new fuel. The battery charge seemed a bit low when I first rode it but the trip from Belco to Tuggers seemed to work a bit of magic on it. I know i'm gonna need to drain the oil and replace it question is what viscosity oil should I use for canberra? Also what's a good synthetic brand to put in? I'm assuming I should also clean the air filter. Is there anything else ímportant I should do before taking it out some more? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Did you say Postie bike? They can run on vegetable oil, and can survive a drop from a 10 story block of flats

As for viscosity, 10w-40 is what i'm using in my little 2fiddy but I assume a little CT110 wouldn't be that much different. Did it come with a manual? Being in Crapberra shouldn't matter, even when its winter. My car and bike run fine on the same viscosity oil all year round. MOTUL is what I usually use. Make sure the tyres aren't rock hard or about to disintegrate :?

Posties use 10W-40 of the dinosaur kind rather than the synthetic kind. That's what they were designed for, and that's what they need.

After 12 months, I'd make sure the control cables are lubed and do the air filter. If you need a manual (either owners or workshop) then pm me.

And teh posties ditch em after 20?k kms, so they give no fark for long term reliability!
Flush and replace every fluid, replace all filters, and buy a new battery. It wil go soon enough.

    Regards, Andrew.
