Sorry to Hijack thread, Why does the P's Test take near 8 hours? It seems a bit excessive considering it takes a matter of minutes to run through each of the assessment pieces. Is there a bunch of theory or what?

It is a full course, not just the test anymore. That is why it is a full day course.

They give you practice beforehand to make sure you know everything so you can pass the test.

Congrats on booking your p's. I have to do (and pass my test before end of july) can you let me know how it goes, I am worried that I don't have the skills required to pass. I have done a couple of training courses. I am petrified I will fail and have to do my learners again. ( licence runs out in Sept and I will be away from end Jul to Oct so have to do again.)

    Necia,

I would say if you can take care of your nerves, its actually not that hard. Of my group of 6 only one failed because he went the wrong way on the final swerve. Up until then he hadnt dropped a point. If you practice the slow speed manouvering you will be fine. They allocate about an hour on the day for actual test practice, so there are no surprises when the test comes.

Do one of the learner rides organised here. I never got to one unfortunately, but those that have rave about them as @Heidi and DJY take you through the whole skill set required.

The actual ride up to googong dam is fairly uneventful and as far as i know not formally assessed. I think they eyeball you to make sure your not totally hopeless..

The guy that failed just has to go back for the test component, so its only about an hour at the end of the day. No big deal if you fail, and certainly nothing to be afraid of. Good Luck!
