I'm going to beat this one day. I'm going to find a spare rim & when I run this tyre out am going to practice until I can get it right (given I now have two tubes to practice with)! I can't quite figure out how I pinched it, but I got it in two separate spots...

    With the levers Id say.

Get tubliss or mousses. Never run tubes again! Simples.

Il always pay for someone to do it haha. Unless I'm stuck somewhere. It's such a PITA. I think I had to do it 4 rides in a row.

Getting Tubliss in a month or so!!! next pay I order my new swing arm finally after my last purchase fell through... Hard to find parts for a 2012, no-one is wrecking them hahahahaha

Dirt set will be on for a while while I save cash and eventually sort out a new hub for my rear wheel..

Yeah, I fully intend to get someone to do it - especially for $15. I just need to know how for that time I hit a sharp thing and I'm miles from nowhere :)

They really are! I'm really looking forward to getting some more experience on mine!

Must investigate tubliss when I get back from next week's ride...

99.9999% of the time it's definitely levers. I've holed one tube truing a wheel and wound the spoke into it which was just retarded, the rest were levers. I'd give you my secret but I still pinch 1 in 10 on the posties, even with the tube slightly inflated and working very carefully from the valve and then around.

Even shops pinch em. Rocked up to a ride to a bloke changing a tube after cmc had done him a new tyre the day before.

Good story Donna. If you have it with you at the time put some water on a rag and wipe it around the tyre bead and it will help slip over the rim easier.

Just from pushy experience, if you put a small amount of air in before you start putting the second side on it helps to stop pinching. But the water on the rim, or even a bit of soap, can help to make it so you can push the tyre on without tools.

I was using spray soap, which helped a lot.

    In terms of practical tips:
    a) Talc on the tube also helps.
    b) Spray soap or something like that is a good idea. Can afford to be slightly more liberal and not get pressure spikes compared with a tubeless tyre, though obviously it can give you a rusty rim in the end.
    c) The little things that go and screw into the valve stem (into, not onto!) and let you pull the valve stem through also help to stop annoyances with getting the valve stem through the rim.

Having that KTM sand plough push through a track looks good planning :)

This was right at the end of the bush, on the beach. We bogged both bikes getting out this morning - had to tip them both on their sides & swing them around. Pics later.

Even better planning was to ask the ktm owner to ride my bike through that sand. I got it through the scrub, on a skinny walking path, but couldn't do that last couple of metres of deep sand.

I have a great photo of us both bogged to the swingarm, but it's on my camera & I can't upload it for a week.
