An inauspicious start, but it shall be cleaned up and made to look more awesome over time.

    Welcome the TinyBike™.

    The details:
    * Pocketbike. 49cc I guess.
    * Rolling on massive 6.5" rims. Tyres are wider than a postie tyre though!
    * Factory-fitted rust. I mean, seriously, you look at a piece of bare metal and it rusts.

Plan is to clean it right up, give it some paint, and make it work properly. Testride last night indicated it might be a bit lean - it dies in the arse at full throttle. Pretty characteristic of a blocked jet, so the carb needs to be cleaned. The chain was siezed solid - can of WD40 fixed that. Oh, and it needed fuel.

Since getting it home last night, I've pulled the back end out, and started to paint the sprocket to try to stop the spread of rust. I've also made the chain better - soaked it in WD40, a rust-reducing agent, then a bit of grease, then some kero to clean it up on the outside a bit, then proper chain lube. Works nicely again. I've also pulled the exhaust off, cleaned out the expansion chamber using some gasket remover, and painted the exhaust in classic flat black engine paint.

Just havinga look at the pic... the forks seem to be on backwards, is that a high tech adjustment to assist with turn in and faster changes of direction?

Might have to try that on mine... I noticed you haven't trade marked that mod :up

Re: Team SupaStace™ Red Bull TinyBike™

No pics of the carb cleanup etc, too much carb cleaner around to not end up destroying my camera. I like my camera.

I do have, however, some more pics, presented to whet your appetite for just how awesome the TinyBike™ is.

The view most of our competitors will see. I have plans for a replacement exhaust can.

Did I mention it's a bit rusty? Note the clipons offset in height. It adds awesome. Try it on your road bikes.

What a surprise, rusty bits everywhere.

Quality: when parts that are oiled, like the chain, still rust.

Looks even more impressive (if that's possible) when you remove the chain guard.

Chain needed a fair bit of soaking to make sure it was gonna work ok.

Rusting out the rear sprocket removes rotating mass. It is just like free horsepower.

    You heard them. Racing only!

I managed to negotiate us a new sponsor. This is now the Team SupaStace™ Red Bull® Reducteur® TinyBike™. Reducteur make a brilliant rust killing agent in a can - pick it up from Blackwoods today! Works brilliantly; it came into its own in this build - I used more last night than I have in the 3 years I've owned this can.

    ----
That's it so far. I've actually made a lot of progress regarding all the bits needed to put it back together, and it runs much, much happier after a couple of hours of cleaning, fettling and adjusting. Tonight's aim is to get it looking all pretty. Like Subaru, we're all for style, and we're all for value in Team SupaStace™.

It required less hanging off like a monkey than I expected. Avartie will fill you in on my monkeying capabilities on the Monster.

Re: Team SupaStace™ Red Bull TinyBike™

No but apparently I wasn't really on the bike either :).

Progress has been made. Mechanically I've got it about 99.99% sorted - footpegs are (hopefully) secure, brakes adjusted, chain sorta adjusted but needs a bit more fettling.

Paintjob is awesome - but not gonna be revealed till Marulan :D.
