Racing this weekend has got me excited about going faster. So I'll be back on the healthy bandwagon...

Did 20 chinups this morning, with a big jumper and heavy skate shoes. On track to beat my all time record of 24... or maybe it is 25, I can't remember because it's been so long since I was fit, haha. I'll just have to smash 30 to make sure it is actually a new record :p

I'm down 6kg in 2 weeks, thanks mainly to Keira and her good cooking and motivation!

I had a Zinger bacon and cheese combo.. plus I've been supplementing my diet with copious amounts of Jim Beam.. I'm feeling stronger by the day.

Well, it is a proven method for getting results, you mearly have to look at lap times of the last race to see I am significantly faster then Jono. The only possible explanation for this is that my diet and training regime is far superior.

Would this be a good time to mention the time I cracked 30 chinups using an overhand grip, hands slightly wider than shoulder width, etc...?

I had been working up to it steadily for a few months, starting from the mandatory handful we had to do at the time for our fitness test. I had stopped at a comfortable 27 in my previous session a couple of days earlier and had no real trouble pushing out the 30 on the day in question, though the last two were a little shaky. I warmed down, stretched, etc, finished the rest of my gym session and went home.

Later that evening, my right shoulder was a little stiff. Next morning, it was downright sore, particularly if I lifted my arm above shoulder height. Next time I went to the gym I found I couldn't manage even one chin up. I had overworked / torn the muscles around my right shoulder and it was many weeks before I could pass the chin up component of the fitness test again. Never bothered doing more than the minimum again after that. So, don't rush the last few to 30, OK?

My current fitness regime is limited to competing in orienteering events a couple of times each week. I was cycling the last few kilometres of the trip to work earlier in the year but it is too dark and cold to be bothered with it in the depths of winter.

I'm certainly not the fittest individual about these days, but a while back when I was doing a hell of a lot of rock climbing, 50 chin ups was a piece of piss... Couldn't run 400m to save my life though :)

Well after many weeks of running around burley griffin at lunch time I took the plunge and enrolled in a cert 3 and 4 in fitness. I'm on my way to becoming a personal trainer.
